Cooking them Healthy was born out of a conversation between two friends, Georgie and Jo, chatting about foods to boost to support a little one’s immune system and how to incorporate these foods into child friendly recipes. It soon become apparent that this information would be helpful to everyone, and that there is no one place to visit with easy family recipes that focus on nutrition. We combine our knowledge of cooking, recipe creation and nutrition to create quick and delicious recipes that really do work within the context of busy family life, without endless lists of impossible ingredients.
In addition to our recipes, we are proud to share with you our Essential Shopping Basket to help make your weekly shopping trip that little bit easier, as well as our Supercharged Section which focuses on boosting target nutrients for specific health conditions. We also regularly blog about topics of interest that we believe will be helpful to you, from the latest nutrition research to which foods are currently in season.
We work on Cooking them Healthy when we can grab a few spare moments, without profit, because we are truly passionate about sharing our information combining family cooking and good health. Therefore please do bear with us if we go silent at times, with 6 young children between us, we are most likely juggling motherhood!
Please know that the cogs are always churning working on our next recipes for you and ways to help you improve the health of your family, even though at times it may take a little longer to get these from pen to paper.

Having completed my training in 2006 I then went back to teach at Leiths School of Food and Wine as well as setting up my own private catering company cooking for a variety of high profile clients. I was also lucky enough to travel with my cooking – training chefs at the world renowned Relais Chateaux Shatki 360 Leti learning more about flavour and different cultural cuisines. I also lived out in Sri Lanka for a few months and immersed myself into the cuisine, coming home armed with new recipes and techniques.
Through out my career as a chef I have covered a pretty extensive scope, from recipe testing, menu writing, food photography and styling, working with high profile publications and writing many a cooking course.
Currently I am teaching at both Leiths School of Food and Wine as well as being a regular guest chef at the new James Martin Cookery School at Chewton Glen.

Having completed a three year course studying Nutritional Therapy at the College of Naturopathic Medicine I continue to further my passion for the art of using food as medicine. I am fascinated by how what we eat can have such a huge impact on how we feel, both in body and mind. From both personal experience, and the benefits I see in my clients, I strongly believe Nutritional Therapy has a significant role to play in maintaining our health & wellbeing as well as preventing disease.
I regularly attend seminars, lectures and workshops for my CPD (Continued Professional Development), a minimum of 30 hours a year, to ensure I stay on top of the most current research. As a full member of BANT (British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy) I experience the benefits of being associated with a professional body. I also have fully comprehensive professional liability insurance. In addition to helping clients in my private practice, Jo Saunders Nutrition, I regularly write nutrition & health articles on a freelance basis.

Minnie
Minnie is Georgie’s sister and one of the main reasons Cooking them Healthy came about. Her middle child Clara was, from a young age, diagnosed with having Ceoliacs Disease which plunged them all into the unknown world of gluten free living. Having Georgie as a sister meant they could experiment with different foods and recipes and create delicious food for Clara, still with just as good nutritional benefits yet not feeling like she was missing out. It also started them on their path into nutrition, realising that embracing a gluten free or lower gluten diet was not actually a bad thing and thinking more about the different foods they put into their children’s bodies and the effects they have on them. Minnie is integral to a lot of the ideas and topics behind Cooking them Healthy and a fantastic cook herself.
Laura
I met Georgie when I took a Healthy & Delicious Entertaining class at Leiths and fell in love with Georgie’s healthy recipes. I was thrilled to discover Cooking them Healthy and was so impressed to find simple to create healthy recipes using ingredients that are easy to find. While Georgie and Jo have the food know-how I help with editing the site as I’ve been writing for the web for ten years. I started out writing about London and that expanded into UK and family travel so my daughter could be more involved. Family mealtimes have been more varied and delicious since Cooking them Healthy has been in our lives!
